Making the Perfect Balsamic Pearls
Balsamic
pearls are one of the greatest, most exquisite, and delicious recipes one can
make at home. Made with just three simple ingredients: agar-agar, oil and vinegar from online store,
the balsamic pearl is a true delicacy. However, not everyone knows how to make
a perfect batch of these shiny pearls. Well, it’s utterly simple, this
molecular gastronomy thing! Okay, let’s skip the fancy and turn to the recipe
instead.
1: Fill a
glass (you’d want a tall one) with olive oil and put it in the refrigerator for
about half an hour. Watch the time! If you freeze it for long, the oil will
start to solidify. It has to be just the right amount of cold. Now, that’s
tricky.
2: When the
oil has been in the freezer for about 15 minutes, take some of that balsamic
vinegar and agar-agar. Put the two in a pot and stir well. Over medium heat,
bring this mixture to a boil. Keep stirring all the while- this is how the agar
dissolves into the vinegar solution. When the mixture has boiled, take it off
the heat and let it cool for a couple of minutes.
3: It’s time
to get that oil out of the freezer! Tired already? Well, remember this is
yumminess made out of caviar and some oil and vinegar from online store. Now, fill up a syringe with the
balsamic mixture you made (step 2). Slow and steady, release tiny drops of the
mixture into the near-frozen oil. Watch the drops turn to pearls!
4: When the
mixture is used up, and beautiful pearls have formed, strain the oil away. You
can use a sieve or a teaspoon- whatever suits you best.
Your ‘oil and vinegar from online
store’ caviar is ready. Wash the excess oil off or mix them up with
appetizers as it is. Either way, you’re gonna love it!
